Recontact — quickstart
Recontact is a contact-form backend. Drop a script into any plain HTML form and it handles submission, spam protection (Captcha + rate limiting), and email notifications. No backend or build step required.
1. Register the domain
curl -X POST -F [email protected] https://api.recontact.dev/v1/register/example.comThis creates an inbox for example.com and sends a verification email to the specified email address. The inbox can receive form submissions, but it will not send email notifications to your email until you verify your email.
2. Verify the email
Open the https://api.recontact.dev/v1/verify/<token> link from the confirmation email. Once verified, email notifications will flow.
3. Add the form and script
<form id="contact-form" action="https://api.recontact.dev/v1/nojs" method="post">
<label>Email <input type="email" name="user_email" required /></label>
<label>Message <textarea name="message" rows="4" required></textarea></label>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
<a href="https://recontact.dev">Powered by recontact.dev</a>
</form>
<script
src="https://api.recontact.dev/v1/embed.js"
data-domain="example.com"
data-form-id="contact-form"
></script>- The
actionshould point at thenojslink so that if the browser has JavaScript
disabled, we can still give the user a good message.
- The
Powered by recontact.devlink is required on the free plan, the script
will not activate without it.
